Bathymetric Coverage Report Tool

In 2024, the IOCM team launched the Bathymetric Coverage Report - U.S. Waters tool, which allows one to upload or sketch an area of interest (ideal for project planning) and/or upload or sketch a transit line (ideal for line planning) and get information about the bathymetric data coverage.

The tool contains all of the latest information in the U.S Bathymetry Coverage and Gap Analysis, resymbolized by bathymetric data source. The data from each principal bathymetry layer in the U.S. Bathymetry Gap Analysis are gridded individually at 100 meter resolution and then merged by a series of supersession rules. The supersession order is reflected in the Layers list of the Bathymetric Coverage Report tool, as shown in the image below.

After following a three step process- (1) Add an area of interest (AOI)/transit; (2) summarize AOI; and (3) review Coverage Results, the tool does the following:

  • Produces a map-based visualizations of the coverage within your AOI;
  • Allows one to download clipped grids that may be used for further exploration of the coverage and gap analysis results; and
  • Print a PDF report.

The images below highlight some of the functionality:

The buttons circled on the top right of the Coverage Results window will allow you to download the clipped grids and export a report as PDF. The buttons circled on the top right of the Coverage Results window will allow you to download the clipped grids and export a report as PDF.
